We recently attended the Toronto performance of Disney Live! Mickey’s Rockin’ Road Show at the Sony Centre. It is a really fun show for kids seven and under. The playful story puts the Disney crew on the road to find acts for their upcoming talent show, with some mishaps along the way they run into some wonderful Disney friends and recruit each of them along the way.
Perfect for Young Kids
The show was engaging for young kids and did a great job getting the crowd to cheer, jump and dance. The pace and energy was spot on and had enough shenanigans to keep it interesting.
There were many moments where the crowd expressed their delight when favourites like Cinderella or Buzz Lightyear appeared. My daughter really enjoyed Daffy Duck’s own mission of his ‘big kapow’ cannon. Parents will especially enjoy in their child’s reactions as Disney magic takes hold.
Of course with a show like this there’s lots to buy. It will set you back about $20-30 for any item you choose. There are spinning light up toys, figurines, sippy cups and the like. A large program book for $18 is basically an activity book with a poster which I’d say you could do without.
Meet the Disney Characters
At the end of the performance one little girl near us burst into tears as she realized the show was over!
If you get there a little early you can have your little one’s picture taken. They had a special backdrop but again it was an average of $20. With that said don’t forget to dress up or bring your Mickey ears. Lots of little cuties got into the spirit with their own costumes!
My last tip is to look out during intermission as I noticed characters from the show in the aisles during intermission who chatted and took pictures with fans. This is also your chance for your little star to be part of the show as they brought some kids and parents onto the stage to be part of the talent show.
We’re a Disney loving family and thought this show had a good range to please younger boys and girls alike. At the end of the performance one little girl near us burst into tears as she realized the show was over! I’d say that’s a sure sign the show was a hit!
