Join us for a reading of space-themed children’s books honouring Black scientists.

KidSpark Workshop 1, Level 4
Celebrate Black History Month with a special reading of space-themed picture books written by Black authors and featuring pioneering Black scientists. After the reading, join in for a fun hands-on activity related to the book.
This month we’ll be reading:

Mae Among The Stars by Roda Ahmed – Inspired by the life of Mae Jemison, the first African American woman to travel in space, this beautiful book is perfect for young readers who love to dream big!
Hidden Figures: The True Story of Four Black Women and the Space Race by Margot Lee Shetterly – Based on a true story, this book celebrates Black mathematicians Mary Jackson, Katherine Johnson, Dorothy Vaughan and Christine Darden, whose brilliance helped launch NASA’s astronauts into space.
The book readings and activities are ideal for visitors ages 5 and under. Please note that spots are limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis.
