Model Railroad Club of Toronto Holiday Show

Saturday, December 3, 2022 @ 11:00 am

Model Railroad Club of Toronto holds its first public shows since 2020.

During the pandemic, members had a unique opportunity to spend dedicated time on the railroad. MRCT is excited to showcase its new scenes and architecture in December!

Since 1938 MRCT has welcomed thousands of visitors to Canada’s premier O scale model railroad. Moving to the Curity Avenue location in 2013, members focused on continuing the tradition of the previous layout incorporating an innovative design and state of the art technology.

Inspired by the Central Ontario Railway, the railway captures the flavour of Central Ontario including industries and natural features, and by naming passenger cars after towns along the original route.

The Club appeals both to a child’s sense of wonder and discovery and an adult’s interest in technology, artistry and history. Trains pass through cities, towns and countryside of the Central Ontario Railway, popping in and out of tunnels and crossing overhead bridges. Visitors can explore model railroading techniques that range from homemade to 3D printing. The club uses true-to-life (prototypical) switching, signals and dispatching of passenger and freight trains, which are controlled digitally, and connected with wifi.
