Ripple Foundation’s Creative Literacy Conference for Youth

Saturday, October 1, 2022 @ 10:00 am

$30

100% volunteer-run education charity, Ripple Foundation unveils its inaugural virtual conference, headlined by New York Times bestselling author, Nic Stone. Advocating creative literacy among Canadians in grades four to 12, the conference takes place on Saturday, October 1st, 2022.

Kids, tweens and teens across the country are gearing up for a highly-anticipated day of workshops, giveaways, roundtables, experiential activities, plenary sessions and more. Designed to encourage expression, inspire the next generation to explore creative writing skills in educational, professional and personal settings, and connect on topics that matter to them, attendees will also hear from inspiring special guests, including Canada’s first Olympic Cycling Gold Medallist and author, Lori-Ann Muenzer.

The first 100 ticket-buyers will be entered into a giveaway to win a signed copy of Stone’s latest book, Fast Pitch. As well as making the conference possible, ticket sales, sponsorships and donations will support Ripple Foundation’s free programs throughout the year that include weekly Write It Workshops and Wave Blogs to equip Canada’s next generation with the creative literacy skills they need to succeed.

In anticipation of the event, Nic Stone said, “Literacy’ sounds like such a boring, academic concept, but it’s about so much more than reading and writing. I’m looking forward to engaging young masterminds in a creative conversation and challenging them to pursue true literacy–which is a lifelong journey–with everything they’ve got.”

The event marks a decade of Ripple Foundation’s Kids Write 4 Kids creative writing challenge–the only contest of its kind in Canada that sees winners become published authors before reaching high school–and its evolution to now offering programs to support Canadian students at all stages of their writing journey.

“We are so excited to be bringing children and youth a conference that has been carefully curated with the help of our youth volunteers – from planning to facilitating and participating in some of the sessions,” said Ivy Wong, Founder of Ripple Foundation. “We can’t wait to see everyone there and inspire the next generation to leverage the power of words.”
