There is no reason kids need to stop reading and learning while they are stuck at home. Turn off the TV, or wind down at the end of the day by heading online for some storytime offered by well-known children’s  publishers, libraries and online literacy organizations for kids. 

Scholastic Education is offering Scholastic digital platforms for a limited time for free at home and keep your kids reading, thinking, and learning. Complimentary access available until June 30, 2020.

The free offerings include:

BookFlix for Grades K-3.  a curated database that pairs fiction and non-fiction books, and a great tool for reading aloud with your child as it reinforces reading skills while introducing children to a world of knowledge and exploration.

Shared eReading for Grades K-3 is a compilation of digital books with reading prompts and audio for children to follow along with. 

TrueFlix, for grades 3-5 helps children strengthen literacy skills, build science and social studies knowledge, and cultivate 21st-century skills. 

ScienceFlix, for Grades 4-9 offers teachers and parents hands-on projects, activities, videos, and more to help kids learn about science

Scholastic GO!, for Grades 2-12 is a digital search engine full of articles, videos, and age-appropriate content, kids can learn about their favourite topics in meaningful ways.

The SAG-AFTRA Foundation’s award-winning and Daytime Emmy-nominated children’s literacy website, Storyline Online, streams videos featuring celebrated actors including Viola Davis, Allison Janney, Chris Pine, Wanda Sykes, Justin Theroux, and Betty White reading children’s books alongside creative illustrations, helping to inspire a love of reading in children. Storyline Online is available 24 hours a day.

Each weekday at 4:00 pm EST, record-breaking astronaut Christina Koch, who recently returned to Earth after 328 days in space, will be reading a children’s book each day on her Instagram Live.

TumbleBookCloud Junior is an online collection of free ebooks and read-along chapter books, non-fiction books, graphic novels, educational videos, and audiobooks! It is designed specifically for kids in grades three to six.

HooplaKidz offers a selection of free learning videos, popular kids’ songs and nursery rhymes that are also available on multiple digital platforms such as Amazon Prime, Roku, Xumo, audio platforms such as Spotify, Google Play Music, Apple Music, and Amazon Music, and HooplaKidz’s very own app – HooplaKidz Plus. The premium HooplaKidz Plus is currently offering 50% on an annual subscription.
