3. Family Day Weekend at McMichael Canadian Art Collection

This family day weekend be sure to include a trip to the McMichael Canadian Art Collection. To celebrate Topographies, which explores the work of Montreal-based Congolese artist Moridja Kitenge Banza, the McMichael is presenting two days (Sunday & Monday) of art, music and dance that will bring to life the vibrant culture of Africa to Kleinburg. Families can enjoy hands-on art activities, guided exhibition tours of Banza’s work, musical performances, storytelling, and drumming workshops by acclaimed Western African artists currently living in Canada.

4. Disney On Ice presents Into The Magic

Hosts Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse bring audiences on an expedition across raging seas, snow covered mountains and the marigold bridge in Disney On Ice presents Into The Magic. This action-packed extravaganza, featuring Disney’s Moana, Frozen, Coco and Beauty and the Beast with other beloved Disney characters, skates into Oshawa on Family Day weekend for its debut at the Tribute Communities Centre, February 15-18, 2024.
Into The Magic takes families on a high-sea adventure as Moana sets sail on a life-changing quest to save her island with help from the demigod Maui. 5. Family Day Weekend at The Royal Ontario Museum (ROM)

The ROM is set to host an unforgettable Family Day Weekend experience. Highlighting the weekend is the return of Zuul – guests can experience the majesty of ROM’s world-famous ankylosaur – just back from a triumphant tour to Japan. For just a few weeks, visitors can once again come face to face with “The Destroyer of Shins” — a gnarly horned armoured dinosaur with a sledgehammer-like tail. Alongside Zuul, families can explore engaging workshops, diverse exhibitions, and exciting activities. From chemistry experiments to hands-on biodiversity displays, ROM offers something for all ages to enjoy. Young visitors can dive into the BASF Kids’ Lab: Playful Polymers for slime-making sessions, fostering a love for STEM exploration. ROM’s youngest visitors will also enjoy WonderWorks— where play meets learning — a permanent Museum space that invites children to experiment and connect in an interactive and fun environment.
With daily programming from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm, ROM promises to be the perfect destination for Family Day, plus admission for all visitors will be completely FREE on Family Day (Monday, February 19), including full access to all regularly surcharged special exhibitions. 6. Elliott Tree Farm Maple Experience

The warm daytime temperatures have the sap flowing in Southern Ontario! The Maple Trees have been tapped at Elliott Tree Farm which means they will be making fresh Maple Syrup for Family Day Weekend! Within an hour an hour of the GTA experience this annual tradition with famous pancake breakfast at the Horse Barn Canteen, followed by a 10-15 minute sugarbush trail walk. Enjoy the sugarbush experience where you will visit a sugar shack, check sap buckets, and taste sap, maple sugar and fresh maple toffee over snow! Afterward, return to the Heritage Barn to experience the Maple Syrup Museum of Ontario and learn about the unique history of maple syrup in Ontario.
7. Jurassic World: The Exhibition

Jurassic World: The Exhibition at Square One Mississauga will keep its iconic gates open through to May 5, 2024, allowing visitors one last chance to explore the popular attraction before the touring experience leaves Canada. This is the ultimate Family Day outing for dinosaur-loving families and Jurassic World fans.
This thrilling interactive experience made its Canadian debut in April 2023, and continues to attract visitors from across the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) and beyond.
8. Outdoor Adventures in Surrounding Areas
Venture beyond the GTA to explore nearby natural wonders and outdoor attractions, such as snowshoeing or nordic skiing at a conservation area, or head out for a day of tubing, skiing and snowboarding at nearby resorts like Ski Dagmar and Blue Mountain.
Nature lovers can also get their fill during Family Day Monday at Wye Marsh where visitors can experience the best of winter fun by learning all about animal tracks, watch awesome birds of prey or take a winter hike. 9. Visit a Zoo or Nature Centre
What’s a family day weekend without inviting the awe that only the animals and wildlife around us can inspire! Head out to the Toronto Zoo for their annual Family Day Weekend celebration, visit the Cambridge Butterfly Academy for their Family Days event, or venture under the oceans at Ripley’s Aquarium. 10. Free Family Fishing

Ontario Family Fishing Events is a province-wide opportunity for Canadian residents to fish Ontario waters without the otherwise mandatory fishing version outdoors card. The Ontario Government has designated four periods throughout the year as license-free Family Fishing, Family Day Weekend fishing will run from February 17-19, 2024.
