Take Your Family on a Spring-Summer Getaway: Cruise the 1000 Islands of Ontario

City Cruises Gananoque to Launch 2023 Season in the 1000 Islands

City Cruises Gananoque is excited to start its 2023 season on April 22nd, offering four different tours for families to explore the Canadian Gateway to the 1000 Islands. The oldest and largest passenger cruise line in the area, City Cruises Gananoque operates five triple-decker, all-aluminum vessels that depart from ports in Gananoque and Ivy Lea.

Parents with young children can enjoy the incredible scenery and rich history of the 1000 Islands on any of the four available tours. The One-Hour 1000 Islands Cruise from Ivy Lea offers views of Boldt Castle, the Statue of St. Lawrence, the 1000 Islands International Bridge, and the Zavikon Islands, home to the world’s smallest international bridge.

The One-Hour 1000 Islands Cruise from Gananoque gets up close to the area’s natural beauty and history, with views of fifth and sixth-generation family cottages and a cruise through the narrow channels of the Admiralty and Navy group of islands.

For a more in-depth experience, families can choose the Three-Hour Thousand Islands Cruise from Gananoque, which is a Canadian Signature Experience. This tour features onboard audio commentary in English and French, sharing the region’s fascinating history and its people. The tour also includes views of Boldt Castle and Millionaire’s Row, which showcases the lavish homes of the rich and famous.

For an extended adventure, families can opt for the Five-Hour Boldt Castle Stopover Cruise from Gananoque, which includes a two-hour stopover at the majestic Boldt Castle on Heart Island. This narrated cruise also takes families past Zavikon Island, Millionaire’s Row, the St. Lawrence Seaway, and the 1000 Islands Bridge, offering stunning views of the area’s most breathtaking scenery. It’s important to note that a valid passport is required for this cruise since Heart Island is an official port of entry to the United States.

All City Cruises Gananoque vessels are fully accessible on the first deck.

With so many different options, a cruise through the 1000 Islands is an experience that should be on every family’s summer destination list.
