We are celebrating the 36th Annual Word on the Street Festival with a Kids Lit Book Bundle Giveaway!
The Word On The Street Festival moves to a new location this year at David Pecaut Square on September 27 & 28! The festival has long been a Toronto tradition that celebrates books, ideas, and the joy of reading, and this year’s lineup is bigger than ever. Families, kids, and curious minds will all find something to discover at this free outdoor event in the heart of the city.
The CBC Kids Stage will be buzzing with activity all weekend. Families can look forward to meet-and-greets with favourite characters like Daniel Tiger, Super Why, Joojo, Gary, Orlando, and Peppa Pig, alongside storytimes, live performances, and interactive sessions such as Reporting 101 with CBC Kids News.
The Toronto Public Library is bringing its beloved bookmobile, Big Blue, to the festival. Visitors can browse the mobile collection, borrow books, or even sign up for a library card on-site. For those with curious minds, Soapbox Science, presented by Toronto Metropolitan University, offers a fresh take on science talks.
Ontario Science Centre x WOTS is returning to the street to immerse families in the wonders of science the way only the Ontario Science Centre can. Visitors can dive into hands-on workshops and demonstrations, including:
- Mind-Bending Science: explore optical illusions that challenge the way we see the world
- Solar Science: make bracelets with UV-sensitive beads that change colour in sunlight
- Solar Observation: safely observe the sun using special telescopes and sunspotters
