Celebrate monarch butterflies and help create a healthier habitat for pollinators at Downsview Park! Families are invited to spend the day learning about these incredible migrating butterflies while helping transform the park’s south mound into a vibrant Monarch Mound filled with pollinator-friendly plants.
Take part in guided pollinator walks, get your hands dirty during community planting sessions featuring milkweed and native prairie plants, and enjoy drop-in activities including chalk art, information stations and more. Families can also stop by for special Butterfly Storytime sessions throughout the day.
Schedule:
10:00–11:00 a.m. – Planting Group #1 or Pollinator Walk #1
11:15–11:30 a.m. – Butterfly Storytime
11:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m. – Planting Group #2 or Pollinator Walk #2
12:45–1:00 p.m. – Butterfly Storytime
1:00–2:00 p.m. – Planting Group #3 or Pollinator Walk #3
Ages: All ages; children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult
Good to Know: Pets are not permitted, with the exception of service animals. Registration is available for the planting sessions and pollinator walks.
