Celebrate Black History Month at Todmorden Mills in the Don Valley!
Connect with Toronto’s local Black History and learn about the lives and legacies of Lucie and Thornton Blackburn, William Peyton Hubbard and Mary Ann Shadd Cary. Enjoy light refreshments and craft keychains, inspired by the Blackburns’ taxi cab business. Create cards highlighting William Peyton Hubbard’s accomplishments, and try your hand at cut-out poetry, using the words from Mary Ann Shadd Cary’s newspaper, the Provincial Freeman.
Join in on enhanced tours of the historic houses, highlighting local Black history, and visit the Black History Month display case in the Papermill Gallery.
