Little Canada asks Canadians to get Creative for Canada with a Big Show of Love

Little Canada Canada Day

New attraction coming to Toronto challenges Canadians to celebrate Canada Day differently this year

Every July 1st, Canadians from coast to coast come together to celebrate ‘our home and native land’ with barbecues, block parties and spectacular fireworks.

And while Canada Day celebrations will look a little different this year, our love for Canada remains the same. That’s why Little Canada is asking Canadians from Newfoundland to British Columbia to great creative for Canada this year. On June 25th Little Canada launched its Big Show of Love Canada Day Contest which asks participants to create a little work of art expressing their love for Canada — in miniature.

“We are so excited to see the unique creations from across the country,” says Joy Evenson, Director of Marketing at Little Canada. “Everyone has a different perspective on what makes Canada special so I’m sure we will see some really creative entries!”

Entries can include a poem, portrait, sculpture or painting – the only stipulations are that is has to be inspired by Canada, and it has to be no bigger than the size of a Toonie.

To enter the contest participants can Direct Message their creation to Little Canada on Instagram (@littlecanada) and Facebook (@littlecanada.ca) by June 29th at 3 p.m. All submissions will be shared on social media and will be voted on by the online community.

The winner will be announced on Canada Day at 3 p.m. EST.

The winner of the grand prize will get “Littlizied” into a Little Canadian model, which will then be placed in the Canadian location of their choice in Little Canada when the attraction opens to the public later this year.

  1. I missed your deadline, thought it was 7:30. I wanted to send a picture of a wood carving of an RCMP member, about 1/2” high, carved by the late Frances Armstrong, of Erin, Ontario. She was one of Canada’s premier miniature makers, and her work is shown on (francesarmstrong.homestead.com). I have two and would consider donating one if it would be part of Little Canada.
