Family Fun at Medieval Times

Medieval Times Tournament in Toronto
Cheering on our knight at Medieval Times in Toronto

I went to Medieval Times Dinner and Tournament in Toronto this weekend with my husband, 10 and 14 year old sons, my daughter and five year old granddaughter.

For those of you who aren’t familiar with Medieval Times it is a family dinner theater featuring staged medieval-style games, sword-fighting, and jousting performed by a cast of talented actors and horses.

We all really loved the show, it was great family entertainment with something for all ages to enjoy. From the moment we walked in we were impressed with the castle like interior and all the fun things to look at. Before and after the show we had a chance to see the beautiful horses up close which was a nice extra treat for the kids.

We had the King’s Royalty Package tickets for  the tournament which gave us great seats in the second row, and lots of extras – including a group photo, cheering banner, a program for each of us, a behind the scenes DVD and photos with the princess who was very gracious – my granddaughter was delighted!

During the show each seating section is given a knight to support in the match – everyone get’s into the spirit of the ‘competition’. The boys liked the sparks when the swords clashed and broke in battle and the white horse looked almost magical! Our meals were served to us during the match so we could dine like royalty as we cheered on our knight. The food, roast chicken, potatoes and corn on the cob, was very good, very plentiful and piping hot.

As you leave you would be hard pressed to miss a visit to the gift shop, full of ‘medieval’ themed toys and souvenirs, with a good selection of keepsakes for any age and surprisingly reasonably priced too.

Overall we found the show to be a good value – very engaging, entertaining and professional. The atmosphere was exciting, the effects and lighting were great, and the actor’s performances were excellent. The entire experience was fantastic and fun for the whole family!
