ROM March Break: Activities and Exhibitions for the Whole Family

March Break at the ROM

Visitors can enjoy all that the ROM has to offer this March Break with nine days of art, culture and nature to discover. From Saturday, March 14 to Sunday, March 22, special programming will be offered from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. for kids of all ages, included with ROM general admission.

Activities include:

  • Bronfman Hall Activity Zone – Families will be transported to Pooh’s Hundred Acre Wood with a magical activity area.
  • Connect with ROM Experts – Visitors can hear about the amazing research ROM experts are conducting all over the world and what it’s really like to be doing fieldwork.
  • Canadian Nature Experience – ROM experts offer tips and tricks for getting closer to nature
  • ROM Storytime – Everyone will enjoy storytime with readings from books that cross the worlds of art, culture, and nature.
  • Family Film Fest – Families can take a break and relax with a movie in the Signy and Cléophée Eaton Theatre.
  • Nature Misunderstood – Children will find out answers to common questions like: are snakes slimy? Should we fear sharks and piranhas? Do spiders bite people? Find out in the drop-in workshop located in the Life in Crisis: Schad Gallery of Biodiversity.

Families will love the timeless and universal appeal of one of the most adored fictional characters of all time, Winnie-the-Pooh, in the immersive and playful exhibition,Winnie-the-Pooh: Exploring a Classic, on from March 7, 2020 until August 3, 2020.

March Break is also the last chance to see the family-friendly exhibition Bloodsuckers: Legends to Leeches before it closes on March 22, 2020. In this thrilling ROM-original exhibition families will discover fascinating science about leeches, lampreys, vampire bats and birds, learn mesmerizing facts about Dracula and other blood-feeder-inspired culture, as well as partake in hands-on activities with the new Bloodsuckers Family Experience.

The special in-exhibition Bloodsuckers Family Experience Concierge is available to guide families through the exhibition’s activities and activations. These include: ROM experts presenting real specimens from the Museum’s collections; story times; arts and crafts with ROM teachers; a Family Trail scavenger hunt; and souvenir snapshots in the Bloodsuckers photo booth. All activities take place in the Bloodsuckers: Legends to Leeches exhibition space from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. throughout March Break, with specific story times listed at the Family Concierge.

Visitors won’t want to miss the world-renowned exhibition Wildlife Photographer of the Year before it closes on Sunday, March 29, 2020. Featuring 100 vivid and evocative images, the exhibition showcases outstanding photography that communicates the beauty and fragility of nature.

There are many more galleries at the ROM for families to visit and explore, from dinosaurs to mummies, that showcase art, nature and culture from around the world.

Bloodsuckers: Legends to Leeches, Wildlife Photographer of the Year, and Winnie-the-Pooh: Exploring a Classic, organised by the V&A, are each separately ticketed exhibitions. ROM Members receive free admission to these exhibitions and enjoy exclusive opportunities to experience exhibitions and programs throughout the year. For more information, visit www.rom.on.ca.
