There’s nothing quite like watching a movie under the stars on a warm summer night! Outdoor movie nights are back across Toronto and the GTA, with family-friendly films showing in local parks, squares, and community spaces from June through September. Pack your lawn chairs, blankets, snacks, and bug spray, then settle in for a fun and affordable night out with the kids. Many screenings are free and take place weekly throughout the summer, though locations and schedules can sometimes change depending on weather and special events.

Burlington Movies under the Stars

Free outdoor movies on Thursdays from July 9 to August 27, 2026! Movies start at 7 p.m. Bring your own lawn chairs, blanket and bugspray. It is recommended to arrive early to reserve a spot.

Aurora Movies in the Park

Back for 2026, summer Movies in the Park will bring families a free movie on August August – 20 & 27 and September 3. All movies start at dusk at Aurora Town Park (49 Wells Street). Bring your own chairs an blankets, and arrive at 7pm for free pre-movie themed family activities and popcorn (while supplies last)! View Website

Celebration Square Movie Nights

From late June through to early September the whole family can enjoy a film together at Celebration Square Movie Nights. The screenings are each Thursday at 8 pm, Pre-Show at 7:30pm. Bring your own blankets and snacks!

Newmarket Moonlight Movies

Join the Town of Newmarket during the month of July for their 2026 Moonlight Movies Series, taking place on select Mondays and Wednesdays at various parks in Newmarket. Find a spot on the grass for your lawn chairs and blankets, to enjoy a movie on a large inflatable screen, under the stars. Movies start at dusk. Visit Website

Moonlight Movies in Richmond Hill

Richmond Hill’s Moonlight Movies series is an outdoor cinema experience that runs each summer in August & early September. It’s free and all you need to bring is a blanket or lawn chair. Movies start when the sun goes down, pre-show fun and snacks at 6:30 p.m.

Whitby Movies in the Park

Movies in the Park will be back for four evenings this summer. Grab your blankets and popcorn and join the Town of Whitby on July 17, and August 14 and 21, 2026. Movies are shown on a large, outdoor screen with concert-quality sound starting at dusk. Visit website for movie schedule.

Toronto Outdoor Picture Show

From June 26 to August 23, 2026, Toronto Outdoor Picture Show returns for its 16th season of free outdoor movies in parks across Toronto. This year’s “Going Places” theme celebrates journeys, adventure, and discovery through a lineup of films shown at Christie Pits Park, Corktown Common, and Bell Manor Park. All screenings are free, accessible, and open to the public.
