Summers Glow: Best Spots for a Sunflower Day Trip in Ontario

As early as late July and sometimes continuing into September you can enjoy the warm yellow glow of sunflowers in bloom all across Ontario. What used to be a pretty farm crop has turned into a new craze with Sunflower Fields now opening up to the public. Walking amongst the thousands of vibrant blooms offers an immediate lifting of spirit, not to mention the perfect backdrop for selfies and family photos, and your Instagram feed! Some farms offer other activities for families and couples, and some even offer special photography days. We’ve gathered some of the top sunflower fields in Ontario below, with more to come to this ever-growing list.

Please check venue website for more information before heading out. Many locations are closing early this year due to the warm weather. Please be aware that most locations require advance tickets to attend, and peak bloom times vary.

Pingle's Farm Sunflower Experience

Starting in September – Stroll down a winding trail through a field of over 100,000 sunflowers! Pingle’s Sunflower Experience features picture perfect pitstops with photo prop stations including a giant swing, a red velvet couch, claw foot bathtub, hanging photo frames, straw couches, vintage tractors and more!

The Sunflower Farm

The Sunflower Farm in Beaverton is the largest sunflower field in Durham Region covering about 10 acres of land. Guests can stroll through their breathtaking sunflower trail and grab a photo of the kids on the antique tractor. Open until August 25 for the 2025 season.

Bragg Farms

Open until August 8 for the 2025 season – Walk on paths cut through 2 acres of lush, tall standing beautiful Sunflowers. Take personal photos, make memories and enjoy your time in the absolutely beautiful scenery. These flowers are not for viewing only as they are crop used in their Bragg’s Wild Birdseed. Ornamental Sunflowers are available for purchase while supplies last.

Rounds Ranch Sunflower Experience

August 1 – Sept 1. One of the few farms that allow visitors to pick sunflowers. Visit their annual Sunflower Experience event for a safe, and fun outdoor farm experience with plenty of extra activities for families on their all season fun farm.

Dixie Orchards

Opens August 11 for the 2025 season. A family-owned apple, pumpkin, sunflower, and hazelnut farm located in beautiful southern Caledon. Families can enjoy wagon rides through the sunflower fields, onsite farm market and fun activities.

Davis Farms Sunflower Fields

Take a 2 km walk though a Field of Dreams – 45 acres of bright sunflowers. Located in the rolling hills of Caledon, the Davis Family Farm is only 30 minutes away from the GTA. Stop to take photos at fun props along the way including the famous pink sofas, bring the kids for Creature Quest’s exotic animal demonstrations. Play the piano in the field!

Andrews Scenic Acres

Andrews Scenic Acres in Milton is well known for it’s 165 acres of beautiful escarpment countryside. ​The farm offers walking trails, wagon-rides, playground, animal corral, straw maze, corn walk and great photo opportunities year-round. It’s sunflower fields grow varied height sunflowers ideal for photos with those cute shorter humans!

The Fieldstone Barn

Opening August 9 for the 2025 season. The Elora Sunflower Festival at the Fieldstone Barn kicks off on August 6. Located within walking distance of Elora. The small farm is the perfect family day trip out to see the sunflowers. The farm features paths to walk through the many varieties of sunflowers, photo stops with colourful props for fun photos and weekend activities for kids to enjoy!

Brantwood Farms Sunflower Festival

August 2-4 and 7-10, 2025. Hundreds of thousands of sunflowers spread across gently rolling hills, nestled at the back of a picturesque family farm. Enjoy a wagon ride, trails, play area and picnic area.

Lakeview Village Sunflower Farm

With a million sunflowers and an artist trail featuring outdoor art installations. The site also features a recreation field, and sunflower deck, and places to site and enjoy the views of nature and the lake.

Sunflower Fields of Markham

Opens July 31 – Home to more than 400,000 sunflowers on over 20 acres! Located in Markham on Highway 48 just north of Major Mackenzie. Walk through the fields, soak up the summer sun, and get the perfect summer sunflower photos.
