The City of Markham has partnered with North Star Drone Shows to unveil Canada’s first virtual drone show tomorrow on Canada Day! Delight in watching the grace and precision of 90 drones taking flight to form animated images in the night sky that celebrate Canada and Markham.
Watch carefully because you may recognize some familiar illustrations!
In partnership with snapd inc., and proudly sponsored by Kylemore Communities. Powered by the snapd HUB app and Augmented Reality (AR), Markham residents can enjoy virtual fireworks at home anytime after 6 PM on July 1 – AND Canadian Astronaut, Chris Hadfield will be leading the final fireworks countdown? Nobody likes a countdown more than an astronaut!
Markham’s Canada Day First Ever Virtual Fireworks Experience
This year’s virtual celebration of Markham’s Canada Day will offer a fun-filled day of activities and engagements for the whole family.
The line-up for Markham’s virtual Canada Day includes:
- Watch the broadcast of:
- The National Canada Day celebrations online at 1 and 8 p.m.
- A livestream of the Canada Day Drumming Canada-wide drumming circle at 2 p.m.
- All-day entertainment will include:
- Greetings from Markham’s Mayor, Council and elected officials
- Magic shows with Doo-Doo the Clown
- A “Learn to Draw” workshop series
- Four interactive trivia contests between 11 a.m. – 7 p.m.
- Watch Markham’s ‘O Canada’ tribute video featuring people from all over Markham singing O Canada to mark the 40th anniversary of the National Anthem
- A selection of city and community buildings and landmarks will be lit in red and white
- A list of the buildings and landmarks that will be lit can be found at the bottom of this page
- Your are invited to join in the fun by:
- Dressing yourself or your pet up in Canada Day attire
- Decorating your house or balcony in red and white
- Lighting up your house or balcony in red and white lights
- And sharing pictures of your efforts on social media using the hashtag #MkmCanadaDay
