Celebrate the incredible journey of the Monarch butterfly during Monarch Tagging Weekend at Cambridge Butterfly Conservatory! Each fall, Monarchs travel more than 3,000 kilometres from Ontario to their overwintering grounds in central Mexico, and this special family-friendly weekend offers plenty of ways to learn about their migration and conservation.
Watch special Monarch butterfly releases outdoors at 11:30 a.m., 1:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m., then explore the greenhouse with the self-guided Monarch Migration Challenge. Kids can also enjoy Monarch-themed colouring and crafts, learn how to help this species at risk and pick up a complimentary packet of Common Milkweed seeds to plant at home, while supplies last.
All Monarch Tagging Weekend activities are included with general admission. Timed-entry tickets are required and often sell out, so advance booking is recommended.
