Meagan’s HUG Gingerbread House Decorating Contest

Canadian charity Meagan’s HUG announces its 2021 Gingerbread House Decorating Contest to raise funds for paediatric brain tumour research and life-saving treatments. The Food Network’s Brad Smith, host of The Big Bake, will serve as this year’s celebrity judge with prizes for the ‘Most Creative Gingerbread House’, the ‘Most Festive Gingerbread House’ and more.

Gingerbread kits can be purchased online and include items for decorating. The kits also make a fun and festive gift idea for kids, family and friends while sharing a message of hope for a good cause!

Visit meaganshug.com to order your gingerbread kit by November 30th. Kits will be delivered to your door or available at pick-up sites across the GTA. Check the website for dates, home delivery eligibility and pick-up locations.

Once your gingerbread house is completed, snap photos and email to fundraising@meaganshug.com. All photo submissions received by the deadline of December 17, 2021 11:59PM EST will be reviewed by special guest judge, Brad Smith. Winners will be identified in the following categories:

  • Most Creative Gingerbread House using the provided kit contents
  • Most Festive Gingerbread House that evokes the holiday spirit – additional decorating items permitted!

All entries are also eligible for a social media bonus prize where participants can share their creations on social media and tag @meaganshug. Category winners will be announced by January 5, 2022. Learn more about contest guidelines

Donations are also accepted through the Meagan’s HUG website and tax receipts for all donations over $20 will be issued (does not apply to gingerbread kit purchase).

Meagan’s HUG is driven by a vision of a world where no children and their families suffer from brain tumours. Founded in 2001 by Denise Bebenek as a way to address the lack of funding for paediatric brain tumour research and spread a message of hope after she lost her five-year-old daughter to an inoperable brain tumour, Meagan’s HUG leads many programs year-round to raise awareness and funds for ground-breaking research and life-saving treatments and therapies for children affected by brain tumours. From the annual walk on the Saturday of Mother’s Day weekend that culminates with thousands of participants joining hands to encircle the Hospital for Sick Children in the only human hug of its kind in the world, to its school program, international Neuro-oncology Fellowship and more, Meagan’s HUG is just getting started.
