Sport plays a vital role in connecting people and communities in Mississauga, unifying a diverse population by turning play into a shared sense of belonging. A League of Our Own celebrates team sports and shares the stories of local athletes and coaches. This exhibition will be on display at the Museums of Mississauga’s Adamson Estate from April 23 to September 6. It is a chance to experience a variety of artifacts tied to Mississauga’s sporting history, including sports uniforms, and Rikén:Ã¥ – Little Brother – a unique art piece which embodies the lived experiences of a Mohawk lacrosse athlete. Through interactive experiences, visitors are invited to be a part of the action and reflect on their own memories involving sport.
A League of Our Own was developed by Randa Bustami, Emily Owen, Portia Piasentin, and Ankush Sood as part of the Faculty of Information’s Museum Studies Capstone Projects course, in consultation with Dr. Irina D. Mihalache.
