Cirque du Soleil’s LUZIA is back in Toronto, 10 years after its debut in 2016. Hailed by critics the world over, LUZIA is a joyful and visually-stunning creation that invites audiences to escape to an imaginary Mexico – a surreal world suspended between dreams and reality. LUZIA dazzles in a series of grand surprises and breathtaking acrobatic performances amidst a colourful tapestry of places, images and sounds of Mexico inspired by tradition, folklore and imagination. LUZIA is Cirque du Soleil’s first and only touring show that incorporates more than 10,000 litres of recycled water to create awe-inspiring scenes such as Trapeze and Cyr Wheel artists spinning as rain pours from above the stage, and mesmerizing Aerial Straps that sees an artist diving in and out of an ancient cenote (natural sinkhole) while a life-sized puppet jaguar curiously looks on. Get ready to be wowed by mind-bending contortion, gravity-defying hand balancing, and lighting-speed juggling among the incredible acts. Written and directed by Daniele Finzi Pasca, in association with Brigitte Poupart, LUZIA is a waking dream where light (“luz” in Spanish) quenches the spirit, and rain (“lluvia”) soothes the soul. Cirque du Soleil’s LUZIA is on until August 30 in Toronto, under the iconic Big Top at 2150 Lake Shore Blvd. W. Suitable for all ages.
