During the Ontario Family Fishing Events families can try fishing without the need for a fishing license! This is great way to try out the fun sport together as a family.
FOUR Times a Year Family Fishing Events
Ontario Family Fishing Events is a province-wide opportunity for Canadian residents to fish Ontario waters without the otherwise mandatory fishing version outdoors card. New this year, the Ontario Government has designated four periods throughout the year as license-free:
February 18-20, 2023Â (12:01 a.m. Saturday to 11:59 p.m. Monday)
May 13 & 14, 2023Â (12:01 a.m. Saturday to 11:59 p.m. Sunday)
June 17 & 18, 2023Â (12:01 a.m. Saturday to 11:59 p.m. Sunday)
July 1-9, 2023Â (12:01 a.m. Saturday to 11:59 p.m. Sunday).
During all other time periods, Canadian residents between the ages of 18 and 64 years must purchase a valid fishing license to legally fish in Ontario.
There has never been a better time to introduce a friend to fishing!
Participants fishing without a license must fish under the Conservation fishing license limits which are set out in the current Ontario Recreational Fishing Regulations Summary. With the exception of the licensing requirement, Ontario fishing regulations, fees, and limits continue to apply during license-free days. Printed copies of the summary are available at license issuers and ServiceOntario Centres.
